 The Education & Career Resources of Georgia, USA and Ministry of Health in Ghana have entered into a partnership to train Geriatric Life Support Aides.Geriatric Life Support Training, a program designed to provide training to participants who will deliver appropriate care to the Aged Population of Ghana with competence and confidence, these healthcare professionals will develop the skills necessary to provide appropriate patient care in accordance with US established standards and practices. The development of abilities to deliver bedside care, including but not limited to assistance with personal care, activities of daily living, provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.It is expected that the trainees listed below will begin training on November 16th  through November 21st,2009,been the first phase of the training comprising of a 40 hours classroom and laboratory training.After that the trainees will take a two days break and continue with the second phase which commences on the November 24th through November 29th,which is going to comprise of 20 hours of facility based clinical training While here the trainees will participate in an intensive training program designed to allow each participant to master patient care skills, interact with other programs reflected in the service of affiliated institutions, and develop competence in skill areas that will be of immense benefit to the aged population in Ghana.Education & Career Resources of Georgia (ECRGA), in conjunction with other organizations such as American Heart Association, Georgia Health Partnership, and the National Healthcareer Association has been and is providing training of this nature to healthcare providers here in Atlanta, Georgia.
